West Godavari is one of the districts in Coastal
Andhra of Andhra Pradesh formed in 1925 from old Godavari district. The
district head quarters are located in Eluru. The boundaries of West Godavari
are East Godavari district to East, Krishna district to West, Telangana state
to North and Bay of Bengal to South. According
to 2011 census, West Godavari district consists of 3,936,966 population
and occupies an area about 7,742 sq.km. Three rivers Godavari, Thammileru and

Economy
Agriculture is the main occupation in the District.
The major crops are Paddy, Cashew nut, Sugarcane, Tobacco, Coconut and Mango. The
Reservoirs like Yerrakaluva, Doweleswaram Barrage, Tammileru, Eluru canal,
Jalleru, Vijayarai Anicut waters are the source for Irrigation. Aquacultural
activities like Shrimp production and Pisciculture also the part of economy.

Eluru and 7 Municipalities namely Palakol, Tanuku, Kovvur, Tadepalligudem,
Narasapuram, Bhimavaram, Nidadavolu. There are 15 Assembly seats and 2 Lok
sabha constituencies in the district.

Tadepalligudem of the District.
