Kurnool is derived from Kandanavolu whcih is one of
the 4 districts in Rayalaseema of Andhra Pradesh. At the time of October 1 1953
to October 31 1956, Kurnool is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The district Head
quarters are located in Kurnool itself. The boundaries of Kurnool are Prakasam
district to East, Bellary district of Karnataka state to West, Mahabubnagar
district to north, Anantapur district to South, Raichur district of Karnataka
to North-west, Kadapa district to South-east. According to 2011 census, the

Divisions
There are three Revenue divisions in Kurnool namely
Nandyal, Kurnool and Adoni. Each divison is divided into Mandals. There are 54
Mandals in the district, 1 Municipal corporation namely Kurnool and 4 Municipalities
namely Dhone, Nandyal, Yemmiganur and Adoni. There are 14 Assembly seats and 2
